Where to Request a Specific Record
Send each Montgomery County request to the office that keeps that record:
- Deeds and liens: the Clerk of the Circuit Court, Land Records Department; see Montgomery County public records

- Birth and death certificates: Montgomery County HHS Vital Records or the Maryland Division of Vital Records; for marriage licenses and divorce decrees, use the Circuit Court; see vital records in Montgomery County

- Staff, school, phone, and property directories: see Montgomery County people directories
- Records not available online: file a Maryland Public Information Act request with the office that maintains the record
